Practical Considerations: Antique transferware is safe to eat on and should hold up well for occasional use. Be sure to wash and dry by hand, and never use bleach on stains. Instead, soak the piece in 3-percent hydrogen peroxide (the process may take anywhere from a few days to a month). But if you are concerned about damaging your antiques, use a silver-rimmed or solid-color plate as the dinner plate, and then place the transferware on top as an accent piece to be set aside when the food is served.

Get the Look: To re-create this setting with a different color scheme, start with the color of your transferware, and select a contrasting color for the linens. A blue-and-white pattern would look great with pink, and black and white can easily be paired with any color. For the centerpiece, gather flowers in the same hue as the plates or a contrasting color.
