Dazzling Color

“Dahlias are fragile because the heads are large and will easily snap off the stem, so handle them gently,” advises Birmingham floral designer Sybil Brooke Sylvester. “To get them to stand up on their own, I used a piece of chicken wire to form a web inside the container. I began by placing the largest heads at various heights and directions and then worked in the smaller ones. First I added the lavender pink tones, and then I distributed the warmer ones, mixing them throughout the arrangement.”
