The Early Years

The Early Years

Growing up: “My mother was a huge influence on my career―she had a good eye and good taste. She constantly told me, ‘Strive for perfection. Details matter.’ When I was 8 years old, I tore apart her House Beautiful magazines and rearranged and edited the photos to suit my taste. I also rearranged our family furniture constantly―sometimes with my mother’s approval.”

How she got started: “I attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth and majored in business, which still helps me today. Right out of school, I decorated all of my immediate family’s and many of my friends’ houses. I started my own business in 1978.”

Contemporary Designers She Admires
Kelly Wearstler  www.kwid.com: “She achieves phenomenal combinations of colors and finishes.

Jonathan Adler www.jonathanadler.com: “He does a terrific look at a great price.”
