Her Roots

Growing up in a small town near Dallas, Showers had an unusual family history: Her great-great-great-great-grandmother was in the court of Josephine Bonaparte.

“After Napoléon’s defeat and my great-great-great-great-grandmother’s death, her husband and daughter came to America and settled in Louisiana. I am someone with strong French roots―there is very little about French architecture, art, cuisine, fashion, general style, and even gossip that I don’t relate to and admire,” she says.
