Scale Matters

Fiona Says: "Selecting the scale of a pattern on wallpaper depends largely on the scale of the other elements in the room. If the more focal furnishings (such as a sofa, the draperies, or a largely exposed rug) have a large-scale pattern, opt for a smaller scale on the walls. Also, use a small scale when you are simply trying to add a little interest to the walls, but you don't want to make the paper the main focus of the space."

In this room: Designer Alexa Hampton refreshed a guest room designed by her father, Mark Hampton, by adding the antelope carpet.
