MINIMALIST
The minimalist's dream vacation includes checking into the newest, hippest boutique hotel. The room is pared down, with furniture that's simple and elegant, and without unnecessary details. If there is a bedstead, it's unadorned iron, steel, or wood. The bed is all about straight lines and great textures. It is dressed with sheets and blankets -- no fluffy duvets -- and either a single bolster or two pillows laid flat at the head. No prints, plaids, pleats, or ruffles can be found. Details in the room are impeccable but virtually unnoticeable. A single color palette dominates, usually veering toward earth tones: light khakis, oyster grays, and milky whites. Fabrics are luxurious, but they are used sparingly. This room reflects a desire to leave the noise and the distractions of the outside world at the door.
