Live on the Edge
You are not afraid to use strong, saturated colors. Any suggestions on how to “live on the edge” and take color risks?
Let your eye be the judge of how colors look together―not rules or matching. I especially like unusual mixes: red with orange
and pink; blue with turquoise or aqua; and purple or lavender can be a great accent―or a bright Chinese yellow. I’m using
a Chinese yellow linen on Syrie Maugham sofas and chairs in a room in Newport with pale lavender walls and lots of black-and-white
and modern art.
Shown here: “Syrie Maugham designed the furniture for this New York apartment,” says Minton. Since then, upholsterers had ruined it,
so Minton took it back to its origins.
