"Cantaloupe gives life to old woods and antique textiles -- it's a fresher alternative to the predictable red in a dining
room." -- designer Fiona Newell Weeks

There's nothing quite like cutting into a ripe cantaloupe and seeing such a fresh, pretty color. It's unusual, yet it pairs well with so many other colors, including red, yellow, pink, dark green, light purple, light blue, brown, and black.
Cantaloupe packs a punch in a dining room or hallway with wood antiques. In a dining room, re-cover chair cushions with crushed velvet in another warm hue, such as red or orange, to complement the walls.
• If you want some color in your home, cantaloupe can be bright in the summer and warm in the winter, giving a glow to the room.
• In an entryway or foyer, this shade makes for a sunny entrance and connects easily with other room schemes.
• It enhances the architecture of a room, so try it on chair rails, moldings, or baseboards.
• If you love this color but don't want it all over, try an Aubusson rug. These rugs often include a muted shade of cantaloupe.
• Use it to paint the inside of built-in bookshelves or niches as a backdrop for collections or decorative objects.
• Make a tablecloth and napkins in a cantaloupe-hued fabric to bring good taste to the table. Pair them with red, green, blue, gold, or white china.
