Years ago, working with neutrals meant working with infinite variations of white and ecru. Today, because there is such an increased appreciation for color, neutrals often conjure up images of warm browns and grays. Brown is often seen in libraries and bedrooms, areas that are associated with seclusion. But brown is also making forays into less-expected spaces, such as dining rooms and kitchens. It's being lightened with yellow or gray, or warmed with red. A no-fail trick: pair it with colors found beside it in nature.
