It's home to scores of corporate headquarters, a leading art museum, top-notch shops, and one of the busiest, if not the busiest, airports in the world. As a result, ever-growing Atlanta has a respected seat at the international table.

This multicultural capital, however, hasn't lost its traditional Southern charm. We found that hospitality still reigns, as designers Bob Brown and Carole Weaks, gallery owner Fay Gold, and rug purveyors Andrea and Jason Moattar shared with us the best of the city

Senior Editor Clinton Smith joins us from Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, where he was editor for four-and-a-half years and experienced firsthand the city's remarkable shopping and dining diversions. See his suggestions on what not to miss in Atlanta.

Hotels & Restaurants

In a city the size of Atlanta, your hotel headquarters takes on greater significance. Many choose the luxury and boutique hotels of Buckhead and Midtown for their proximity to top shops and restaurants. With new hotels such as the St. Regis Hotel, Atlanta, and The Mansion on Peachtree, A Rosewood Hotel, opening in 2008, these areas will remain top destinations. The dining scene not only features the Southern cuisine the area's so known for, but it also reflects the city's international influences.
