· Use an unexpected color. Depart from the
traditional holiday palette by introducing cool colors, such as silver and
white, to evoke images of silver bells and new-fallen snow.
· Accentuate with extras. Include decorations
that accent the sleek sophistication and architectural nature of the
setting, such as the wine cooler, finial, and candlestick. Moore says he
avoids clutter by using streamlined versions of traditional elements to
create a modern setting.
· Think beyond the table. Moore focuses on the
room as well as the table for a total dining experience. He had a beautiful
backdrop of cascading ribbon made to complement the table. An overhead
chandelier bedecked with ribbon is another way to fashion a festive
atmosphere.
