Ancestral
· Celebrate your family name. Incorporate items with your family name, family crest, or in this case, your family tartan. Bring out your cherished monogrammed silver and linens for a personal touch, and add new elements, such as a tartan dinner plate and scarlet goblets, to complement the old.
· Make a tablecloth specifically for the occasion. Purchase a piece of tartan fabric to cover your table. Don't be afraid to mix and match prints. The variation on the pattern for the tablecloth, napkins, and plates works because each piece shares the same colors.
· Pamper guests. Moore likes to incorporate clever place cards into his table settings. Miniature arrangements of red roses, berries, and pheasant feathers in small mint julep cups can take the place of one large arrangement.
· Use your favorite heirlooms. Select a favorite piece of silver for your centerpiece, such as this beautiful soup tureen. Moore elevated this heirloom on a ribbon-covered box to direct attention upward.
